Police in Philadelphia were chasing a runaway Christmas cow on the morning of December 14th. “Stormy the Christmas Cow” made two daring escapes from a local nativity scene before finally being captured for good. We don’t normally put the words “Christmas” and “escape” together– but that is exactly what Matthew the gospel writer describes in Matthew 2. How did God step in and continue to provide for the ongoing safety of the toddler Jesus and His parents? By means of His divine power and providence, what did God provide for their well-being?
